Crashed Cars for Sale

When it comes to buying a car, crashed cars for sale should not be completely excluded from your search just because they have been wrecked. There are many reasons that make wrecked cars for sale acceptable, knowing what these reasons are will help you better your car buying experience.

1. Don’t buy wrecked cars for sale with front end damage
Unless the person or place you are buying the car from can prove that they have had everything under the hood replaced, buying a car with significant front end damage is not worth the hassle that it will present later on. It is a waste of your money unless receipts can be produced and there is verifiable proof that the front end of the car is in good working order again.

2. Some rear end damage is okay
Just because the car has been in a fender bender doesn’t mean that the car is completely worthless. Rear end damage on a crashed car for sale isn’t going to take away from how the car drives. It might not look pretty but the car is still going to run. If you do notice that the car has rear end damage, make sure that the muffler and tailpipe are all intact as most states require you to have these for smog control and emissions purposes.

3. Ask about a branded title
Not all brands on a title are considered bad. Some brands are quite pointless and do absolutely nothing when it comes to registering the car. They are just notes for the Department of Motor Vehicles. Make sure that the brand on the title is not something that could cause issues when it comes to registering the car.

4. Totaled cars are sometimes worth the money
Just because the insurance company considers it to be totaled, this does not always mean that the car is worthless. If the car is older but not considered a classic, often times, totaling the vehicle just means that the amount to pay for the damage is more than the car is worth. For instance, if you are driving a Ford Festiva, and the bumper falls off, the insurance will total the car even though you can pick up the part for less than $100 in the junk yard. If you can fix the car inexpensively, having a totaled title may be worth it for you.

5. Make sure the car doesn’t smoke
Every state and country has some kind of emissions control board. A smoking car will not pass emissions. If this is your car, have the dealer write you a guarantee that if it doesn’t pass emissions you can bring it back. This will not only save you, but save him from being in violation of lemon laws.
